The top 10 spas in Japan! The months October until February are the most suitable time for an Onsen tour in Japan.

There is a huge number of spas in Japan. All of these spas have various specialties, so it is difficult to choose one to go to.

The largest travel website “Jalan” (Recruit CO.,LTD.) announced the top 10 spas in Japan. Jalan asked 5,800 people in Japan which spa they want to go again.
I’m going to introduce the top 3 spas. You should draw upon the guide to select a spa in Japan.

1. Hakone spa (箱根)

Hakone is an old town and well known as a good spa town. The town consists of about 17 hot springs, like “Hakone Yumoto”, “Gora” and “Kowakudani”. These hot springs have different qualities of water.
There are also some historic, famous high class hotels in Hakone.

In addition there are also nice museums in Hakone town. For example, The Hakone Open-Air Museum(Hakone Chokokunomori) is a large open-air museum of sculptures. The museum displays over 400 items in its massive space of 70,000 m2, so you can enjoy the museum all day.

Hakone is accessible from Tokyo by train. That is another reason for its popularity too.

2.Yufuin Onsen & Yunohira Onsen spa (由布院 & 湯平)

Yufuin and Yunohira spa is situated in a landscape of a traditional hot springs resort. The elegant and historic streets are popular with women. Some art events are held in Yufuin, and tasty restaurants are also popular. The spa is surrounded by the great nature. You can enjoy the beautiful nature of the landscape.

The quality of hot spring is great, of course. It is wonderful to be able to take a bath and admire the beautiful landscape.

3.Kusatsu Onsen spa

Kusatsu spa is the king of spas in Japan. The spring is strongly acidic and hot, which is regarded as effective against skin diseases and neuralgia from the past.

The spring is too hot to soak in without cooling, so the spring is chilled at Yubatake or chilled with a traditional way called “Yumomi”. Yubatake is a landmark of Kusatsu spa.

Kusatsu has unique streets, the town will impress you greatly.
