Kobe city “Nankin machi”: The small china town has big fun!

Nankin machi(南京町) is a small china town in Kobe city. There are over 40 shops and stands in this town. The gate of Nankin machi is near Motomachi station, between the modern buildings of Motomachi street….

Nankin machi is a clean and safe town. There is no trash or dirty dustbins on the streets. Besides there isn’t anyone persistently trying to tout for customers or any rip-offs, so you can enjoy shopping and eating comfortably.

The streets are bustling with activity all day long. The Chinese-style buildings and colorful signs give it an exotic atmosphere.

All food in Nankin machi is tasty. People in Kobe are particular about food, so there is a lot of good Chinese food in Nankin machi.

During the new year, upto the the last week of January, various events are held every day including lion and dragon dances. Chinese living in Kobe city have been on good terms with the Japanese since old times, so many Japanese take part in these events. These events are regarded as important for Kobe city.
