The prototype of this unique lantern was shown in the Designboom Mart Lighting Installation section of the Stockholm furniture fair, which was held in Feb 2008. It has been commercialized with the printed logos of “designboom” and “kyouei design”.

The shade is made of Japanese paper which has a peculiar, warm texture and the bayonet cap is made of industrial duct hose.
The Japanese paper has been used traditionally for Japanese lantern shades. It employs not only material, but also traditional techniques for Japanese folding lanterns. This lantern can fold flat and small.

It is interesting that the printed logo looks like a real bulb.
