We have some special new year food in Japan. There are wide variations among them in terms of recipe and styles, no one knows the whole variations. Though they have common rules and they all contain few fat and a lot of vitamin and mineral. They are all healthy food. I show you them in this post.

Castella has been a popular cake in Japan for a long time but it seems to be different from traditional Wagashi. It looks like a Western sponge cake, made of eggs, flour, sugar and starch syrup.
In addition, it is more sweet than ordinary Wagashi.

Kyoto is an exclusive city? Michelin guide Kyoto & Osaka 2010 published in Japan !

“Michelin Guide Kyoto & Osaka 2010” is published in Japan on 16th Oct 2009. I think the guidebook is very helpful for Kyoto and Osaka tours.
However, the restaurants in Kyoto refused to be brought in the Michelin guide. Michelin Director Jean-Luc Naret criticized them as being conservative.
Sometimes Kyoto is regarded as an exclusive city. Is it true ?

The sweet turnip like a peach. :Peach turnip

Sweet vegetables are popular in Japan. It isn’t sweetness from added sugar, but natural sweetness that vegetables originally have. Overall, Japanese vegetables have been bred to bring out their natural sweetness.
One of the masterpieces of the efforts is this.; Peach turnip. It looks like an ordinary white turnip, but they taste so sweet, like a fruit. They have few strings and soft textures.
